Various ceremonies have taken place over the last week to mark the 70th anniversary of the evacuation of Allied troops from Dunkirk in the Second World War. About 50 veterans attended the Allied Memorial on the seafront of the French port, with 50 of the original "little ships" off-shore. More than 300,000 Allied troops were rescued from the port in northern France in the mass evacuation in 1940 code-named 'Operation Dynamo'.
